Palmer Convention & Visitors Center

On May 15th a Holland America Cruise Line representative will visit Palmer and The Glenn Highway Scenic Byway on a FAM trip provided by the Palmer Convention & Visitors Bureau.  Hosted by Geri McCann, and her vision to see Palmer and the surrounding areas of The Glenn Highway Scenic Byway grow and  prosper with economic development in Tourism.  If we are selected as an area that the Holland America and Princess Cruise lines can market to their clients world wide, we are all in for a huge economic boost.

Not only will we provide visitors from all over the world a chance to experience an Alaska that up to now has never been experienced by tourists, we will grow as an international destination bringing with it, jobs, employment and a stability to a failing economy that has plagued many who live in rural area such as ours.

My hat is off to Geri McCann to her insight, vision, hard work against all odds to preserve and  keep the light burning for all of us.

Join us, in her vision……The Palmer Convention and Visitors Bureau.  To become a part of this wonderful opportunity we need your support.

Below is a letter of support you can sign and send to us, we welcome your ideas and look forward to a new beginning.

To The City of Palmer and Communities on The Glenn Highway Scenic Byway

We do not market ourselves self as a tourism destination as well as other communities do; as a result thousands of tourists come through our area in route to other destinations primarily for a nice rest stop instead of staying and spending.

We support the Palmer Convention and Visitors Bureau’s (PCVB) mission to change that image, and re-introduce Palmer and Communities on The Glenn Highway Scenic Byway as an exciting and enriching cultural/adventure tourism destination.

The PCVB is working hard to produce essential marketing tools such as; the Palmer Visitors Guide with regional attractions map, tourism website – (www.visitpalmer.org), and marketing the “Palmer Package” through FAMS, and booths at tourism related trade shows.

We are partnering with these efforts by joining the PCVB and encourage the City to collaborate with the PCVB by joining, purchasing advertisements, and providing additional funds and resources to assist in the production and distribution of the Palmer Visitor Guide and essential marketing tools crucial to launching Palmer as a premier tourism destination. The greater Palmer region is coming together to market itself as one dynamic package and Alaska’s prime tourism destination.

Please support the community and the PCVB efforts to promote tourism in Palmer and to communities along The Glenn Highway Scenic Byway. Help us get connected and intercept the tourism industry slipping through our fingers and town.

Beings of Light
Human Angels

During each of our journeys, there are those inevitable moments when someone comes into our life at precisely the right time and says or does precisely the right thing. Their words or actions may help us perceive ourselves more clearly, remind us that everything will turn out for the best, help us cope, or see us through difficult situations. These people are human angels – individuals designated by the universe to be of service to those in need at specific points in time. Some human angels make a commitment before their births to make a positive contribution to the world at a particular moment. Others were chosen by the universe. All human angels, however, come into our lives when we least expect them and when we can most benefit from their presence.

A few of the human angels we may encounter are in professions where helping others is an everyday occurrence. But most of them are regular people, going about their daily lives until called upon to be in the right place at the right time to bring peace, joy, help, or heal someone when they most need it. You may have met a human angel in the form of a teacher who gave you a piece of advice that touched your soul and influenced your path. The person that momentarily stopped you to say hello on the street, delaying you long enough to avoid an oncoming car or a collision, is also a human angel. They may offer nothing more than a kind word or a smile, but they will offer it when you can draw the most strength and support from their simple action.

You may be a human angel yet not know it. Your fate or intuition may guide you toward other people’s challenging or distressing situations, leading you to infer that you simply have bad luck. But recognizing yourself as a human angel can help you deal with the pain you see and understand that you are there to help and comfort others during their times of need. Human angels give of their inner light to all who need it, coming into our lives and often changing us forever. Their task has its challenges, but it is they that have the power to teach, bring us joy, and comfort us in times of despair.

Last night a neighbor stopped by, Charlie Flynn, from The Sutton Christian Church of Hope. In his car he had cases of lettuce, snap peas, French bread, milk and cream.  He wanted to know if I needed anything or did I know someone who did.  I said yes!  I made a couple of phone calls and this morning I dropped all that had been been delivered.

All the food comes fresh, from local stores,

Everyone is Welcome…

Every week is different, stop by and see what is available!

There are clothes too!

Ask what you can do to help!

It’s that easy……

Both Giving and Receiving

makes everyone

Feel Good!

The Greater Cause
Some Good Reasons for Doing Good

With all that takes place in our lives, it can sometimes be easy to overlook the fact that we’re part of something greater than ourselves—a collective consciousness, the Universe, a greater cause. Because of our tendency to forget this, we might make decisions in our lives that don’t reflect that responsibility that comes with this belonging. All too often, we focus just on the short-term, tangible gain to ourselves without worrying about its consequences. Other times, we may discard the greater cause because it seems like “hard work.” The challenge is to expand our minds so that we transcend the distinction between self and others, so we are aware of how our choices and actions can impact a greater cause.

Contributing to the greater cause doesn’t have to be all about self-sacrifice. For example, if you plant a tree in a community space, its shelter will cool and protect you as well as your neighbors. Or, your reward might be in the form of the beauty that you now see in that space or the sincere smiles of appreciation from neighbors. When you serve the greater cause you also serve your greater good. There is nothing that you cannot do for your highest good that will not benefit the good of all. For example, saying no to a relationship that isn’t right for you not only benefits you but serves the greater good of the other person that you are honoring with your honesty. Saying yes to your dream job not only fulfills you but also serves the people that will benefit from your enthusiasm and productivity.

When you know you are serving a greater cause, there is little room for fear and doubt. You know that what you do will benefit others, so there is no way the universe is not going to support your efforts – even if sometimes it may not look that way. Serving the greater cause allows you to live from the space of your greatness. When you know that what you do can serve a greater cause, you are aware of your power and ability to influence and create change in this world.
